January Book List

Happy Friday! I’m looking forward to a relaxing weekend at home after a busy week of travel to Tokyo for fun and Syracuse for work. Stay tuned for my post about our time in Tokyo next week! Mark and I had such a fun time exploring the city over a whirlwind three and a half days and I can’t wait to share my pics and tips for seeing the city in a short time frame.

In the meantime, I’m rounding up some of my favorite recent reads. Any of these would be perfect if you’re looking to curl up with a book this weekend! And don’t forget you can check out all my Book List posts by clicking the Book Club tab at the top of the page.

MY FAVORITE BOOKS OF ALL TIME

December 20, 2017

favorite books of all time

I’m a huge book nerd and get asked for book recommendations frequently, so I thought I’d write a post to share my favorite books of all time. I love doing the monthly roundups of recent books I’m reading, but when people ask me for a recommendation I often rattle off a few things I’ve just read and inevitably forget to mention longtime favorites.

So this post is for my all-time favorite books. I thought back on books I’ve loved since high school– books that I can read time and time again. Many of these are books that left such an imprint on me that I can remember exactly where I was at the time I first read them (Rules of Civility when I moved to New York and Gone Girl on a cruise with my family). These are the books that make me fall in love with reading all over again and I *almost* guarantee that any on this list would appeal even to a non-reader.

Also, disclaimer: If you’ve looked at any of my other Book Lists, then you know I have a definite type. I read pretty much exclusively fiction and I love thrillers, mysteries and books about relationships and love.

NOVEMBER 2017 BOOK LIST

November 2017 Book List

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! We were in Austin with lots of family and it was so much fun. I had planned to finish writing this post to share on Friday, but wound up not spending a second on the computer the whole weekend which was wonderful!

Mark and I got back to LA yesterday and spent Sunday getting our apartment ready for Christmas. We bought a tree and decorated it and I’m sitting next to it as I type this– and I’m loving it! One of my favorite things to do this time of year is lay on the couch next to the lit up tree and get lost in a great book.

If you’re looking for something to read, check out my latest suggestions, including one of my new favorite books!

4 THRILLERS TO READ THIS MONTH FOR HALLOWEEN

October 16, 2017

Thrillers to read for Halloween

Happy Monday, friends! I’m all about traditions when it comes to the holidays. I watch the same movies every year at Christmas and I watch the Scream trilogy (I ignore the 4th one) every October. I read ‘Skipping Christmas’ by John Grisham every December and I’m thinking a new October tradition will be to read a new classic scary book every year.

I recently read ‘Silence of the Lambs’ for the first time and LOVED it, which is what sparked the idea for my new tradition. From true-crime to fictional thrillers, scary books are the perfect thing to curl up with on a chilly October evening.

SEPTEMBER 2017 BOOK LIST

September 26, 2017

The past few weeks have been a blur between trips to the east coast for work and fun plus my sister visiting us here in LA. One thing I love about plane travel is the chance to really dig into a good book. I read pretty much every day at least for a few minutes, but I love the chance to read for hours uninterrupted, and a cross-country plane flight is the perfect opportunity!

Check out some of my recent reads plus a few pics from when Kelsey visited LA for the first time!
